The Z Fold is the one phone we only buy sealed.

Unopened, in the box, still shrink-wrapped. If yours has been used, we would rather tell you now than after a courier has collected it.

This is the only page on this site where the answer is mostly no, and it is worth explaining properly rather than hiding behind a form that quietly rejects you at the last step.

We buy the Z Fold sealed and unopened. We do not buy used ones, in any condition, including ones that look immaculate. The reason is the inner screen. It is the part that fails on folding phones, it fails on devices that were never dropped, and the failure often is not visible on the day the phone arrives with us. On a Fold the panel and the hinge are effectively one assembly, which makes it the most expensive repair Samsung does.

So when we resell a used Fold we cannot stand behind it, and selling somebody a four-figure phone with no warranty is not something we are willing to do. Rather than price that risk into an offer so low it would insult you, we do not make the offer at all.

What we buy, and only in this condition.

Sealed and unopened, with the factory wrap intact and the device never activated. There is no used price for these, so there is no second number. Proof of purchase is required, as it is on any sealed device.

If you are upgrading, you are not selling. You are part-paying.

If the folding experiment is over, the Ultra is where most Fold owners land: the big screen and the S Pen without the part that fails. And unlike your Fold, we buy those used.

Take the payout as EpicDeals.co.za credit instead of cash and we add 12% on top. That is us paying you for not needing the money in your account today, and it costs you nothing if you were going to spend it here anyway.

The 12% is only worth taking if you were going to spend it. If you need the cash, take the cash, and we will not make the voucher hard to refuse.

What actually moves the number.

It has to be genuinely sealed

Factory shrink-wrap intact, seals unbroken, never activated. A phone that was opened, set up once and put back in its box is a used phone, and the calculator will price it as one right up until we test it.

Proof of purchase

We ask for it on any sealed device, on every category, not just this one. It is how we confirm a sealed phone is legitimately yours to sell, and it is a condition of the purchase rather than a formality.

Which generation

A sealed Fold 6 is worth a great deal more than a sealed Fold 4, and the gap is larger than on any non-folding phone, because an unopened older foldable is a much narrower market.

Storage

Matters on a sealed device the same way it does at retail, because that is effectively what you are selling us: a phone nobody has used yet.

Why a used one is a no, even a mint one.

This is the opposite of every other page here, where a fault lowers the offer rather than ending it. On a folding phone the risk is not what you can see, it is what appears three months after we have resold it.

  • The inner folding screen is the part that fails, and it fails on devices that were never dropped
  • A crease deepens with every open and close, and it never reverses
  • The hinge collects grit, loosens, and eventually takes the panel with it
  • The protective inner layer lifts at the fold and cannot be replaced on its own
  • Panel and hinge are effectively one assembly, so a repair is the most expensive in Samsung's range
  • None of that is visible when a device arrives looking perfect
  • Which means we cannot warranty a used one on resale, at any price

Three ways to take the money.

Galaxy Z Fold questions.

Really, and we would rather be blunt than waste your time. The problem is not how a used Fold looks on arrival, it is that folding screens fail later, on devices that were treated perfectly. We cannot warranty one on resale, so there is no price that works for us. A private buyer who wants a Fold specifically will pay you considerably more than we could anyway.

Selling something else?

Every other Samsung we buy in whatever condition it is in, including phones that will not switch on. One collection covers the lot.
