The Fan Edition is the most misunderstood phone Samsung makes, and the misunderstanding costs people money in both directions. It is not a flagship with a discount, and it is not a mid-range phone with a flagship badge. It is a genuinely separate model with a different chip, a different camera system and a different second-hand price.
That last part is the bit that matters here. An S24 FE and an S24 are not interchangeable in the calculator, and treating them as the same phone would mean somebody gets the wrong number. Pick the exact model rather than the family.
What the FE does have is a large, steady second-hand market in South Africa, because it lands at a price a lot of people are actually shopping at. Demand is not the FE's problem.

Which FE, precisely
There are several years of these and they are not close in value. The S25 FE and the S21 FE are four generations apart. Choosing the right one in the calculator is the single most important thing on this page.
Screen condition
Same AMOLED panel economics as the flagship line: it is the most expensive part to replace and the first thing a buyer looks at.
Battery health
The older FE models are now at the age where this is the first question a buyer asks. Check the number under Settings, Battery, Battery health rather than estimating.
Whether it has been repaired
A non-original screen is a real deduction on any Samsung, because it usually means the fingerprint reader no longer works properly through it. Declare it either way.
Things that do not disqualify it.
